The only thing to know is what happens if Reaper of Souls will be welcomed D2R Items by those 280.000 vocalists in a manner that the original Diablo was not. "It's hard to figure out where ideas originated and where they didn't originate," states Mayberry. "I believe Jay was faced with the more difficult task of just getting Diablo out. It was a huge strain on Jay as well. I'm thinking Josh is the opposite. Josh the challenge is that he's arrived and has helped put that next layer on. I think together they've done fantastic job."

Reaper of Souls, with its procedurally generated adventure game modes is aiming to be that next layer. Mayberry says that the expansion will make the game feel more like the sandbox experience, but less like a controlled experience that more closely apes the original game.

"If you take a look at the traditional Diablo-Diablo 1. Diablo the first version of Diablo, you're playing through the story of the game. This was the concept that was created at the time, and one of their biggest hurdles for creating Diablo was.

"What do we have to hold in common from previous games ? and what are we going to change?" The focus on the story "made the game feel smaller than it really was," says Mayberry. "Because you're always being driven--go there, then now go there."

Players who have been reluctant to play Diablo because of its less than stellar assortment of loot might be able to find enough new loot to warrant another appearance. It is now possible to synergise with one another, Mayberry explains, and there are plenty of combinations for interesting character builds. "I saw something drop and brought me the cheap diablo 2 resurrected items Massacre bonus brought gold raining down.
