To call Game 1 of the disappointing for the Astros would be an understatement. They got a pair of home runs from their 5-hole hitter, took a five-run lead and had their ace on the mound before losing in extra innings.Game 2 followed some of the same script, but the sequel ended up more favorable for Houston. After the Astros plated three runs in the first inning and piled on two more in the fifth, starting pitcher Framber Valdez turned in an excellent 6 1/3 innings, striking out nine and walking three. J.P. Crawford Jersey He was charged with just one run, a runner who was inherited by reliever Rafael Montero in the seventh inning after Valdez came out.ASTROS 5, PHILLIES 2:The other key for the Astros? Their spark plug finally sparked. Jose Altuve had three hits, including a leadoff double that ignited that three-run first. The Phillies also hurt themselves in that frame by giving up a run on a two-out throwing error. It was a perfect storm, and unlike Friday, the stubborn Phils couldn't recover.Alex Bregman provided insurance and continued his outstanding October career with a two-run homer in the fifth that put the Astros up 5-0.Phillies starter Zack Wheeler didn't quite uphold his end Jay Bruce Jersey of the pitching matchup bargain. The Astros touched him up for three doubles in the first and he allowed the homer to Bregman. The Phillies' bullpen, to its credit, didn't give up a run in its three innings pitched. With Sunday being a travel day in the series, the crew should be in good shape for Game 3 on Monday in Philadelphia. This game showed what a fully functional Astros team looks like. Outstanding pitching. A good to very good bullpen. And a batting order with very few easy outs. The Phillies couldn't recapture the magic they had Friday night. The good news for them is that they head back home after a split on the road. They're yet to lose at home in the playoffs, and we can be certain of one thing: at Citizens Bank Park is going to be rowdy. The Sporting News tracked live scores and highlights throughout Game 2 of the 2022 World Series.
