The Diablo franchise is in a strange state in the present. D2R Items has been a huge financial achievement for Blizzard, but the game has hurt Diablo's standing due to its unproven, and possibly fraudulent commercialization. Diablo 4 has looked impressive in trailers for gameplay and the like, though numerous players have expressed worry about the possibility of it resembling its microtransactions in Diablo Immortal. Blizzard has tried to assure gamers about the microtransactions of Diablo 4 but we'll never be able to know how it works until the game is out.

Diablo 4 currently lacks a solid release date, though it's anticipated to launch sometime during the first half of 2023. It appears Diablo 4 fans who are curious to find out when they'll be able play Diablo 4 should be sure to tune into The Game Awards in December.

Diablo 4's world will allow players to go off and start the story anytime, however there can "allow the possibility of non-linearity" the story will include "a beginning the middle and an ending".

"One concern with making 'open' an enormous neon and flashing it is that it creates the concept of Breath of the Wild 'oh, it's organic and I can go anywhere and do anything'" Fergusson said, as transcribed by NME.

"That's not really our story. Our story allows for non-linearity, but there is a story - we wanted to buy d2r items have beginning, middle and end.
