With the right organization system, you have everything in your closet in view - and at your fingertips. That's why it's worth reorganizing and refurnishing even an older model. With practical wardrobe accessories, this is child's play. If you buy a new closet, it's even easier.

Good to combine: wardrobe accessories for new order in the closet

There is a whole range of helpers that ensure that the closet interior is optimal and the closet is perfectly organized. Clothes rails, compartments, drawers and co should be planned so that they complement each other ideally. Then, in the end, the closet is completely tailored to the individual needs of its users. To do this, you should think in advance what you need. Is there anything you particularly missed in the past? Were the compartments too big for T-shirts and co? Then organizer boxes with subdivisions could help. Was the clothes rail always overflowing? Then you might need two of them. If this is not possible in an old wardrobe, the storage space can additionally be expanded by a mobile clothes rail. 

Closet interior layout: measuring your clothes

If you want to know exactly and plan the closet interior as optimally as possible, you can measure T-shirts, sweaters and shorts that are to be stored in layers in the closet. For this purpose, they should be neatly folded and measured in the desired assortments. So you quickly notice whether you need rather many smaller compartments or few large ones. The clothes rail also plays an important role in the interior layout of the closet: furnishing professionals have calculated that 25 blouses, shirts or skirts require one meter of clothes rail. They assume a requirement of 4 cm per item - thicker items of clothing such as coats or cardigans need correspondingly more. The height should also be taken into account. If you want to hang several evening dresses and coats in your closet, you should install the rod at a height of around 1.70 m. This is, of course, too high for blouses. Of course, this is too high for blouses - their rod needs only a height of about 80 cm.

Now it's time for the inside of the closet: individuality

If there are a lot of clothes to hang, you can also attach two rods. Extendable clothes rods that are attached vertically are ideal for smaller closets. A corner clothes rail, for example, uses the space right into the last corner of the closet. If you decide to use a high rod, but you do not have enough space to store clothes for the entire length, you can use a shelf or drawers from the halfway point in the lower section. This is the ideal storage space for shoes or garments that are currently out of season. Travel accessories such as suitcases and bags can also be well accommodated here. If it is necessary to store larger items, the compartments should be at least 30, preferably 40 cm high. Narrow and shallow compartments are ideal for shoes.

Closet organization system: consider your own comfort zone

When putting away clothes - preferably carefully folded and sorted by color - the following applies: Everything that is used regularly should be within reach at all times. And it should be within your own comfort zone. When it comes to your closet, this zone is larger the younger you are - and decreases somewhat with age. Basically, it is usually between knee height and the top of the head.
