The company has filed two trademarks in the UK One that reads "OSRS Gold" and another with the title "RS Gold" and noting that the company has registered trademarks that use the words as words. This will likely stop third-party websites from being allowed to promote their sale of RS Gold.

A quick Google search of the terms will bring up a myriad of websites, many of them with one of the terms mentioned in their URL, that offer currency in RuneScape that can be exchanged for real money. This came after the announcement on Oct. 13 that Jagex announced that it was ending to "real-world trade". In a post to its blog "The RuneScape Team" explained that "gold that is purchased via RWT real-world trading is a problem in any online game that uses a traded currency."

Jagex promises to RS gold send "messages to those we've identified as engaging to engage in the RWT" within "the coming hours". "For anyone who has been involved, we'd like to emphasize that this is your sole or only warning" said the statement.
