Writing on this laptop keyboard is easier and more “flaky” since the pressure point of the switches requires less force than on other laptop keyboards. However, “mistyping” can occasionally result from this. Over time, though, you get used to these traits.

The touchpad on the Razer Blade 15 has a surface area of 104 cm2 and measures 8 cm by 13 cm. This doesn’t make it the biggest — the trackpad on a MacBook, for instance, has a 160 cm2 surface area — but it is big enough that it doesn’t feel cramped. Therefore, I can say nothing negative about the size. I also prefer larger touchpads, however at a certain size, the comfort of use plateaus.

But one thing that has bothered me is how sensitive the trackpad is. The trackpad frequently makes false “clicks” when you type on it because sometimes your hand’s heel will touch it. On any other laptop, I have never seen such issues. The touchpad’s sensitivity can be adjusted in Windows’ settings, however erroneous “clicks” also happened at low sensitivity. Cooling

The processor and graphics card are cooled by a Vapour Chamber system that was installed by Razer. The webcam offers a decent image and supports a maximum frame rate of 30 FPS, as is typical of laptop webcams. The built-in microphone operates in a similar manner. Wireless

Razer has selected the Killer Wireless AX-1690 modem for Wi-Fi connectivity. This is compatible with the newest Wi-Fi 6E standard, which has a top speed of about 3 Gbps. Two network adapters in total are built inside this modem, enabling connection to the router over two Wi-Fi bands. As a result, traffic can be intelligently split between the two bands by the modem. It is referred to by Intel as “Double Connect Technology (DCT)” and is intended to raise the top download speed while reducing the latency of important applications like video calls and games. The Blade 15 furthermore supports Bluetooth 5.2, which among other things makes low-energy audio possible.

Benchmark

The Razer Blade 15 is compatible with the newest and most graphically demanding games available thanks to the i9–12900H and the RTX 3070 Ti laptop variant, so long as you don’t pretend to play everything at maximum settings.

My Razer Blade 15 earns a total score of 9750 in the 3DMark Time Spy benchmark with GPU and CPU scores of 9451 and 11882, respectively, pushing the GPU to its performance maximum of 100% and the processor to its heat limit of about 100°C. Only slightly above 70 °C is the GPU’s maximum temperature during the test.

It is clear that the processor is the more potent component of this pair, but the laptop form factor thermally restricts its performance. The GPU is somewhat of a bottleneck because it can’t keep up. The RTX 3080 Ti laptop version would likely be the best GPU to pair with this processor if you wanted to get the most performance out of it. This variation is also offered for the Razer Blade 15. However, because both units share a cooling system in this configuration and the CPU must already operate at its thermal limit, the cooling system would need to be changed simultaneously. According to 3DMark, the benchmark result is also less than the installed hardware’s theoretical capabilities, which may already be a sign of a thermal limitation brought on, among other things, by the compact casing.
